Netflix is getting a black guy to play General Hannibal but I don't care cuz it's Denzel Washington

Dang it, now I'm thinking about the Roman Empire again.

Okay, okay, okay: I know this is the meme.

They are LITERALLY DOING THE MEME.

Netflix has well deserved its reputation.

It's like the woke studio execs at Netflix feel so compelled to rewrite history with an intersectional black-power twist that they can't help but make every historic European figure black and/or gay.

And yes, we all know what would happen if it were the other way around:

These are the stupid times in which we live.

BUT... if we must live in weird times black actors must play real white people but white actors can't play Apu from "The Simpsons," I'll take a solid actor like Denzel Washington any day!

Denzel Washington is reteaming with director Antoine Fuqua and is set to star in an untitled Hannibal biopic at Netflix, the streamer announced Monday.

Following the Carthaginian general's historic conquests, the Roman wartime epic also comes from "Gladiator" scribe John Logan.

Hannibal was a brilliant Carthaginian general who led his army, including fearsome war elephants, over the Alps into Italy during the Second Punic War against Rome in the 3rd Century B.C.

The official logline from Netflix said the project is "based on real-life warrior Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history." The streamer added that "the film covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War."

Inject that Battle of Cannae adaptation INTO MY VEINS.

If you think no one is capable of great historical films at Netflix, you probably haven't watched their stellar (and pretty dang accurate!) story of Robert the Bruce:

If there's one thing we need, it's movies that get us thinking about history again instead of this year's dumb superhero flick #399. We desperately need to remember the lessons of the past.

ESPECIALLY THE ROMAN EMPIRE!

My biggest problem?

Denzel is far too old for the role.

(BUT I STILL DON'T CARE BECAUSE IT'S DENZEL!)
