I don't know why I clicked on this article, but I did. I couldn't help it, and apparently neither could you. I mean, one of the best quarterbacks to play the game says he wears the same pair of underwear to every single game in his NFL career and I just have to know the details.

This is news, people:

Question: Like, are they Hanes? Fruit of the Loom? Some cool brand I've never heard of? I'm the kind of guy who likes quality in his underwear, so I'm gonna need to know so I can get myself a few pairs.

Anyhow, Mahomes was outed by his former backup Chad Henne, who said in a recent interview that Mahomes "comes in, he does his work, his notes are written out a certain way, same pair of underwear, which probably not a lot of people know on gameday he's been wearing it since I've been a part of it …They're red, I'm not sure if they're Hanes or if they're Lululemon but it's one of those two brands."

(Okay, time to make a stop at Lulu.)

So the internet caught wind of this and then so did Payton and Eli Manning, who run a podcast-style show during Monday Night Football. And fortunately for us, who better for them to interview this week than Patrick Mahomes himself, who probably hadn't a clue he'd be talking about his lucky underwear.

Let's see what good ol' Patrick has to say about those undies.

First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I'm not throwing y'all down, but I have to wear them. At the same time, I threw them on that first season, we had a pretty good season that season. I only wear them for game day though, so they're not too worn down, they're not like these like nasty, I clean them. I wash them every once in a while at least. I mean if we're on a hot streak, I can't wash them, you know? I've just got to keep it rolling. You know, as long as we're winning, I'll keep the superstition going.

Kansas City has been on waaaay too many hot streaks over the past few years for me to not wanna barf right now.

And I love how he just blames his wife right away 🤣

Man, this has got to be one of the greatest sports superstitions of all time right here. And if those undies have lasted a whole six years I need to get myself a pair. So if you need me I'll be browsing Lululemon's underwear section. Probably not gonna go with red though, sorry Patrick.
