This commie says free speech is a "disaster" that requires "really aggressive government regulation." I think he just volunteered to be the first one in the gulag.

You want the government to regulate speech, which inevitably includes civil penalties for inflammatory words?

Okay, let's throw you in prison for your inflammatory words, comrade:

(And yes, he really is a commie)

You've gotta love how Marxists can be completely oblivious to the flaws in their own ideas.

This guy assumes that his words and his ideas are not only correct, but that they will be on the right side of the law. It's only those evil free-market MAGA voters who will have their thoughtcrimes policed by the State.

But that's not how it works.

The typical gay millennial commie wants to seize the means of production but also wants to enjoy his/her iPhone and Frappuccino. Dweebs like them want to create levers of power that the government can use to crush people they disagree with, but they won't actually be the ones in control of those levers.

The moment you grant the State the power to tell people what they can and can't say, people far more evil than the typical keyboard warrior will use those levers for their own power.

This is the entire reason that the U.S. is set up with a 1) Bill of Rights that severely limits government power, 2) separation of the branches of government to divide power between the judges, lawmakers, and the executive, 3) an Electoral College that keeps mob rule at bay, 4) an upper chamber of Congress (the Senate) that has equal representation by state and checks the passions of the lower chamber that is represented per capita, and 5) a federalist system that divides power between the national, state, and local levels.

(There's also the Second Amendment in case all that fails.)

As George Washington said in his farewell address:

...the habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism.

The Founders knew what most modern Americans do not: That humans are evil, fallen creatures who will abuse power and become tyrants if too much of it is centralized into one person or a small group of people. Even if you or I wanted to use that power for good, we would end up doing evil.

Or did you think that Lord of the Rings was merely a work of fiction?

The Founders would have warned us severely against the growth of the 3-letter agencies that make up the bureaucratic nanny state, which wield most of the political power in America these days. Who needs the courts or Congress when Biden-Harris can use the FBI to pressure Facebook into silencing Americans in the name of "fighting misinformation"?

The commies don't understand these things. Even after 100+ million people have died under communist regimes, they still think that "real communism" will work the next time it's tried.

So, if Comrade Carlos wants to send the government after people who say "inflammatory" things, he probably shouldn't say "I know it sounds inflammatory" in his post about sending the government after people who say inflammatory things.

Logically, he should be the first one on the train to the gulag!
