Stop me if you've heard this one before: A virus begins circulating in China, sickening thousands and thousands of people, leading authorities to spray down the streets in an effort to control the infection rate.

Guys hitting the streets like Rambo out there.

Don't worry, though! It's not a repeat of COVID and 2020.

We think.

We're pretty sure.

Here's Sky News:

Thousands of people have fallen ill in China with symptoms of a mosquito-borne virus.

More than 7,000 cases have been reported to the authorities of the chikungunya virus, which can cause fever and joint pain.

Chikungunya (pronounced, honestly, "chicken-goon-ya") is, per Wikipedia, a mosquito-borne virus characterized by high fever, severe joint pain, and sometimes fatigue, rash, gastrointestinal problems, and other symptoms.

It's not the most severe virus in the world, especially with a mortality rate of "slightly less than 1 in 1000." But in rare cases it can be serious, and it can spread rapidly within mosquito-heavy regions.

Which is probably why we're seeing workers spraying seemingly every square inch of Foshan, China, with mosquito fog.

Though the disease does not pose a massive threat, the CDC has nevertheless "issued a warning to travelers" about the virus, which is mostly concentrated in the city of Foshan.

Fox News has more:

Thankfully Chinese medical authorities say there have been "no reports of severe illness or deaths," according to NBC.

Still, if you see a skeeter ... you know what to do.
