If I saw a headline that the Rolling Stones's next concert series was being sponsored by the AARP (The American Association of Retired Persons) I would have assumed it was a Babylon Bee joke.
But no, Mick Jagger and crew have fully embraced the old washed-up rocker joke and really are being sponsored by the AARP. And, apparently, the AARP's website couldn't handle the traffic.
All the old folks logged onto AARP at once, or got their grandchildren to log on for them, and crashed the site during what was supposed to be a special presale for AARP members.
A message on the site read: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and are unable to complete your request. Our team is actively working to fix the issue, and we hope to resolve it soon. Thank you for your patience."
The Rolling Stones are still continually touring nearly 60 years after debuting on the music scene. Leadman Mick Jagger is 80, Keith Richards will turn 80 in December, and Ronnie Wood is the youngster of the group at 76.
Almost old enough to run for president of the US!
The tour is set to start in Houston, TX, in April of this year.
