Media outlets regularly twist facts to create a desired narrative, but the shameful race-baiting with the reporting on the acquittal of three Memphis police officers might take it to another level.
From the CBS News/Associated Press report:
Three former Memphis officers were acquitted Wednesday of all state charges, including second-degree murder, in the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols after he ran away from a traffic stop, a death that sparked nationwide protests and prompted renewed calls for police reforms in the U.S.
Pretty standard reporting there, recapping the story that drew national attention and once again stoked racial tensions. The outlet just couldn't help itself, however, deceptively spinning the story in a very different angle…
An out-of-town jury from a majority-White county took about 8 1/2 hours over two days to find Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Justin Smith not guilty on all charges after a nine-day trial in state court in Memphis, which is majority-Black. After the jury's verdict was read, the defendants hugged their lawyers as relatives of the former officers cried. One relative yelled, 'Thank you, Jesus!'
Oh, by the way, here are the three officers:
But yeah, that out-of-town jury from a "majority-white county" sure was prejudiced by … acquitting 3 black cops.
CBS and the AP weren't the worst offenders in trying to divide America by skin color, believe it or not. Check out this NBC affiliate:
Now Reuters:
Left-wing Tennessee Holler got straight to the point as well.
What none of these outlets mention is why the jury came from another county, which just happens to be majority-white.
What they don't tell you is that Judge James Jones, Jr. decided that an impartial jury from Memphis would be near impossible given the "nationwide protests" (Reuters' words) that the 2023 incident caused. He didn't want a kangaroo court where the hearing was a mere formality. He wanted actual justice where the cops were tried by an impartial jury of their peers (you know, what the Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution demands).
Oh, did I mention that Judge Jones is black?
The media frames things a certain way on purpose.
They didn't tell you that a black judge ordered an impartial jury be brought in from another jurisdiction to fulfill the obligations of the Sixth Amendment.
They also hardly mentioned, and this is important, that all five of the officers were already convicted at the federal level, or that two of the officers pled guilty already to the state charges!
Instead, they said an "all-white jury" was picked "from out of town." They focused on racial animus, even though almost everyone involved in the incident was black. They quoted racial grifters like leftist lawyer Ben Crump. They invoked the name of George Floyd.
The word choice was purposeful. And it led to these results. 👇
Even if you don't fall for the grift, plenty of people do.
You don't hate the media enough.
