I can tell you one thing, our last Secretary of Transportation, Gay Mayor Pete, wasn't going to spend time with young men discussing faith on Good Friday.
But on Good Friday 2025 the current DoT head Sean Duffy visited the Merchant Marines Academy and discussed the importance of faith in Jesus Christ with some of the young men who shared his conviction.
Then he asked them about how the academy had hidden away an incredible painting of Jesus.
A complaint from ONE 'concerned citizen' got the Academy's beautiful & historic "Christ on the Water" painting relegated out of the hall where it was displayed, to the basement, where it's rarely seen. We shouldn't have to hide our faith, regardless of our religion. I think there's no better time than Easter to bring Jesus out of the basement and back to a place where our brave and strong merchant marines can draw inspiration from it. What do you think about Jesus in the basement?
Watching these young men sharing Bible verses, sharing their faith, it's quite the inspiration and hope for the future.
And the painting of Jesus calming the storm is such an impactful piece if you're a Merchant Marine. Your job is to go out and watch the waters, watch the sea, protect precious cargo.
And knowing the One who controls the sea has to be a great comfort.
This is something we love to see!
