Watch the Kennedy Center’s giant Mars replica break loose and roll into traffic

Forget Elon Musk's plans to go to Mars - the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is sending Mars to us.

Watch this 30-foot tall Mars balloon displayed at the Washington, D.C., center break free from its restraints and head for the freeway.

The balloon is part of the Kennedy Center's 'Celestial Bodies: Earth, Moon, Mars' exhibit, which allows viewers to wander the grounds and examine inflatable models of the Earth, the Moon, and Mars. At night, the balloons are illuminated from within, making for a fun photo-op.

It's literally Mars Attacks!

The Kennedy Center staff were able to wrangle the wayward planet back to its stationary orbit pretty quickly.

Hopefully, they use better astro-knots to tie it down this time.
