Just east of Lovell, Wyoming, there's a treacherous stretch of highway called US 14A. It has a 10 percent grade or more with several hair pin turns.

Just last week, an RV's brakes caught fire and burned the whole rig out.

It's not recommended for 18 wheelers, but recommended is a far cry from forbidden, which is why Lovell emergency crews responded to this semi dangling over a canyon, holding on to the retaining wall by one stinking tire.

It's a miracle the driver was able to get out of that thing alive and relatively unharmed, though I'll bet he'll have nightmares about falling the rest of his life.

‘We hope we can pull it up without it falling deep in the canyon. And there will be some extremely qualified personnel on site today with big machinery to pull that truck up, hopefully over the top of that retaining wall,' said Cody Beers, the public relations specialist of the northwest region for the Wyoming Department of Transportation. ‘It looks to be somewhat of a miracle that the driver is okay.'

Beers said he spends quite a bit of time driving US 14A, and even he still gets "white knuckles" driving down the mountains.

And the really crazy thing? In this picture from the Lovell Chronicle, you can see the truck was only a 1/2 mile from the run away truck pull ramp!
