Yes, this is how the "mainstream" media spun a story about the U.S. Army:
From The Hill:
Washington City Paper first reported on the parade, noting it will stretch almost 4 miles from the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., to the White House.
An Army official confirmed the parade's length to The Hill, and said that 'there are plans for a parade that will involve the Army,' adding that nothing is yet solidified.
As the report made the rounds online on Monday, liberals came out of the woodwork to criticize the proposed event:
And really, the outrage seemed to be the point:
Here's the problem:
Yes, the June 14th parade would be on Trump's birthday, but that just so happens to be the birthday of the United States Army as well. It's also Flag Day.
Leftwing media has no evidence that Trump is going to celebrate himself. All it has is the information that Trump's b-day happens to be the same day as the Army's, then injects the inference that Trump is doing this because he is an egotistical dictator.
Because many leftwing readers have a frothing hatred for Trump, they take the suggestion at face value and the cycle of fake-news outrage continues.

Compare The Hill's headline to fellow leftwing outlet Axios, which at least made some kind of journalistic separation between the parade and a suggestion that it has anything to do with Trump's b-day 👇
Trump administration officials disputed reports that any parade for the president's birthday is on the docket:
Maybe they just want it to be a surprise. 🤫
