On Thursday night, California's governor was doing cartwheels on social media after a federal judge ordered control of the National Guard in California to be taken away from Trump and given to the governor.

(Because of course)

Unfortunately for governor hair gel, he doesn't actually have control of the Guard.

Here's more on the late-breaking story from The Hill:

A federal appeals court panel late Thursday temporarily lifted a judge's order ruling President Trump's deployment of the National Guard illegal, enabling the troops to remain assisting with immigration raids in Los Angeles, for now.

The ruling from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals landed mere hours after U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer ordered the president to return control of the troops to California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) by Friday afternoon.

Newsom, who had pinned his victory lap post to the top of his account earlier in the day, quickly reversed course:

While the original order from Judge Breyer would have given Newsom control of the National Guard at noon on Friday, that will no longer happen.

Sorry, Gavin.
