Another big payday for an Alliance Defending Freedom client suing a school district for their radical anti-family trans policy.
This time, Jackson Local School District in Jackson Township, Ohio, is settling for the sum of $450,000 with a teacher who was forced to resign after refusing to go along with the school's "preferred pronouns" policy.
An Ohio school district has agreed to pay $450,000 as part of a settlement with a teacher who was forced to resign for declining to affirm the 'social transitions' of students seeking to identify as the opposite sex.
In a statement published Wednesday, the Alliance Defending Freedom announced that Jackson Local School District in Jackson Township had agreed to pay $450,000 in attorneys' fees and damages to former teacher Vivian Geraghty after a federal judge determined that the school district had violated Geraghty's First Amendment rights by forcing her to resign for declining to use a trans-identified student's preferred name and pronouns.
The policy in Jackson Local is the same policy we've seen implemented in districts across the country: Teachers are required to use student's "preferred" pronouns and "socially transition" them to the opposite gender if that's what the student demands.
Inmates running the asylum, if you will.
In many cases, the "social transition" is, by policy, done behind the backs of parents who would otherwise object to the trans-ing of their kids.
In this case, it was the religious liberty angle which secured the settlement for Geraghty.
The settlement comes nearly four months after United States District Judge Pamela Barker of the Northern District of Ohio concluded that the school district had violated Geraghty's First Amendment rights by engaging in free speech retaliation, compelling her to engage in speech against her will and infringing on her right to practice her religion freely.
Vivian, who is Apostolic Pentecostal, refused to use preferred pronouns for students who are pretending to be the other gender, asserting that she would not be forced to lie to students. For this stand she was slapped with an insubordination charge by the school, followed by her resignation.
As a compromise, the teacher's union Geraghty was affiliated with offered to broker a deal where she would rescind her resignation and forget the pronoun thing if she would just use students' "chosen names." This would also violate Geraghty's conscience, so she refused.
Now the school district is handing out a six figure settlement because they couldn't help but push the trans agenda.
Serves them right!
