Supreme Court sides 5-4 against Trump, ruling he must shell out billions in foreign aid

It's not exactly the biggest case, but you've gotta worry about the precedent here.

The Supreme Court libs, with the help of ACB and Roberts, of course, just upheld a lower court ruling obstructing Trump and DOGE.

- A divided U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to let President Donald Trump's administration withhold payment to foreign aid organizations for work they already performed for the government as the Republican president moves to pull the plug on American humanitarian projects around the world.

Handing a setback to Trump, the court in a 5-4 decision upheld Washington-based U.S. District Judge Amir Ali's order that had called on the administration to promptly release funding to contractors and recipients of grants from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department for their past work.

This simply forces taxpayers to shell out $2 billion unpaid for work already done in wasteful foreign aid.

While it doesn't answer the larger question of the $60 billion or so that's slated for foreign aid, and while it's a good practice to pay people for work they've already done, the larger question is the sovereignty of the president over the executive branch and the constitutional separation of powers.

Regardless of whether or not it is a moral thing for a president to withhold payment for work that was already finished, is it constitutional for judges to be able to prevent him from doing so?

ACB does seem to be on a cold streak lately, breaking ranks with solid conservatives and constitutionalists like Alito and Thomas.

Alito did not mince words πŸ‘‡
