The attack happened during the evening of Saturday, July 26, but it has taken days for it to make its way into Western news outlets, which are too busy navel-gazing or reporting the latest propaganda from both sides in the Israel-Hamas war.
The first post I saw about it came from Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday:
Except for Fox News (which issued a breaking news alert 5 days after the attack), only CBS News and CNN show up on the first page of Google results when you search for stories from major American news outlets:
(It was nice of CNN to write up a little story between their wall-to-wall coverage of Gaza.)

The purpose of any system is what it does. Our system prioritizes specific stories about specific conflicts in specific regions and deprioritizes others. Even our outlet is not immune from it (look at how long it took us to find this story too!). This is a natural human tendency, but when the things we cover/care the least about seem to be the ongoing genocide and persecution of Christians around the globe...
...it makes you wonder what that says about us.
