From Idaho News 6:
Friends and relatives of four University of Idaho students murdered in their rental home by Bryan Kohberger delivered powerful statements of love, anguish and condemnation before he was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
'This world was a better place with her in it,' Scott Laramie, the stepfather of Madison Mogen, told the court. 'Karen and I are ordinary people, but we lived extraordinary lives because we had Maddie.'
Several weeks ago, the family of another victim was irate at a sudden last-minute move by prosecutors to take the death penalty off the table.
Kohlberger refused to respond to any of the families' statements during sentencing.
Kaylee's father might have had the most savage comment:
The father of Kaylee Goncalves taunted Kohberger for leaving his DNA behind and getting caught despite being a graduate student in criminology at nearby Washington State University at the time.
'You were that careless, that foolish, that stupid,' Steve Goncalves said. 'Master's degree? You're a joke.'
It's true: Kohberger is an absolute idiot who concocted this plan thinking he was a master criminal and would never be caught.
Except he left a knife sheath with his DNA at the scene and forgot to turn off his phone:
The murderer was sentenced to four life sentences without parole, given an additional 10-year sentence for burglary, and fined $270,000.
All that grandstanding seems like an attempt to mask the fact that true justice isn't being served.
