This happened in Wilmington, North Carolina, this morning around 11:30 after a car rammed into a vet clinic (the animal kind), rupturing a gas line.

It looks like fortunately this Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center location wasn't operating yet. Reports tell us there were no civilians inside. Three firefighters were taken to a local hospital for treatment after searching the building for civilians.

From WRAL in Raleigh:

According to the clinic's website, this location is their newest building and was expected to open in September.

Wilmington police said the driver was driving to a car dealership when they went off the road and hit the gas line to the building. That driver ran away, but was later found and arrested by authorities.

Police said one of the firefighters had severe burns on their hands. It is unclear how severe all [three] of the firefighters' injuries are.

The other two firefighters were also suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire is now under control and the gas line has been secured.
