Reports from the 2024-2025 school year show that the U.S.'s largest growing trend in education is homeschooling.

Angela Watson of the Johns Hopkins University School of Education's Homeschool Hub says,

In the 2024-2025 school year, homeschooling continued to grow across the United States, increasing at an average rate of 5.4%. This is nearly three times the pre-pandemic homeschooling growth rate of around 2%. Notably, 36% of reporting states recorded their highest homeschool enrollment numbers ever

Meanwhile, public schools continue to lose students for some odd reason, despite the huge influx of immigrant children crossing the border during Biden's presidency.

The Brookings Institute calculates that

[If] parents keep choosing alternatives at the pace observed since 2020, traditional public schools could lose as many as 8.5 million students, shrinking from 43.06 million in 2023-24 to as few as 34.57 million by mid-century.

That's roughly a 20% drop, and it adjusts for the demographic cliff. If it weren't for parents pulling their kids from public school, the drop in the birth rate would be projected to only lower enrollment to around 41 million.

In order to keep schools open, the price the government is spending per student to attend public school nationwide has increased from $14,969 per student to $20,322 per student.

Usually, homeschool parents' property taxes still go to fund the public schools, but some states like Florida, Texas, Idaho, Utah, and West Virginia have started shifting it back to homeschool parents, which for better or worse is only going to increase the number of parents homeschooling in those states.

Eventually, those programs are likely to result in more regulation of homeschooling in those states, and we've already seen how government regulating education turns out with the declining public schools.

But that's neither here nor there.

Because right now, homeschooling is entering a heyday, and that means less crazy communist indoctrination for the future.

Now, we just need "home universities" to be a thing.
