In a letter emailed Tuesday to state Rep. Gerry Pollet, Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer confirmed that 'the announced store closures will proceed as planned.'
After Kroger said last month it would close Fred Meyer stores in Lake City, Redmond, Kent and Everett in mid-October, Pollet and other local lawmakers asked Kroger to delay the closures so local governments could address Kroger's concerns about theft.
Democrats seeing they've created cities with no food stores because they won't stop crime:

Last week, state Rep. Darya Farivar said she met with a Kroger government affairs director and discussed an even more ambitious possibility — keeping the Lake City Fred Meyer open as a limited, grocery-only option, which she sees as essential in a community with few other full-service grocery options.
'Is there a world in which we can just keep the grocery portion of the store … and just focus on what are the absolute critical services to the community?' Farivar said following the meeting.
That's not how private business works, lady!
If you don't stop criminals from harassing them, you can't ask people to stay and continue to get robbed.
'Despite productive conversations with numerous mayors and an impactful partnership with local law enforcement, theft and regulatory pressures continue to be a challenge,' [Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer] wrote.
Food delivery is an "absolute critical service" in the modern world where most people aren't farmers, but it's a service that is ONLY provided if you have a functioning society that makes such a service profitable.
Seattle, you could always try the ol' Marxist strategy of having a government-run grocery store!
