NYC mayor Adams drops out of Democratic primary, will seek re-election as Independent candidate

I'd call it a comeback but really, Eric Adams never went anywhere.

The Mayor of New York crossed a line with Democrats when he suggested that maybe sanctuary city policies and taking in hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens at once may not have been best for NYC.

Since then, he's been given the Trump treatment and subjected to investigations and attacks from his left.

So he's leaving.

Eric Adams will not seek the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor — instead pushing all his chips in on a longshot run as an independent candidate.

Hizzoner dropped the bombshell news in a campaign video announcement Thursday — just the day after a federal judge killed his corruption case for good.

'More than 25,000 New Yorkers signed my Democratic primary petition, but the dismissal of the bogus case against me dragged on too long, making it impossible to mount a primary campaign while these false accusations were held over me,' Adams said in the six-minute spiel.

Here's the entire spiel for ya'.

He says he's still a Democrat, but he's not going to be running in the Democratic primary because of all the hate he is getting and the investigations.

He's just skipping the brutal primary and going straight to the general election where he will, presumably, face off with a Republican AND a Democrat.

And he seems to have at least some support.

Add to this the new Deputy Mayor of New York appointed by Adams is none other than Giuliani ally Randy Mastro, and we seem to be having a real unity ticket, a true centrist candidate, in New York.
