That thing that never happens happened again.
The lifeless body of Lisa was discovered by police in a roadside ditch in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
She was returning from a night out with friends before she was attacked by a man who also had a bicycle with him, while she was phoning the emergency police number.
The suspect is a 22-year-old "asylum seeker."
The police haven't revealed his nationality because of course they haven't.
(The rumor is that he is from Mali.)
The attack happened in a suburb south of Amsterdam near the girl's high school (she had just graduated).
A statement from her grief-stricken family said: 'Our hearts are broken. We hope we can mourn Lisa's loss together in peace and privacy. We are immensely supported by the love and sympathy from family, friends, and fellow villagers, and we want to express our gratitude for this.'
The attack happened just after 3:30 a.m. local time. It has led to fury from the Dutch population, with a cry to "reclaim the night."
Meanwhile, Dutch authorities have shot down efforts to legalize pepper spray, saying women should just scream if a man attempts to rape or murder them.
Perhaps most damning, however, is that the man was arrested just days ago.
For two rapes.
And the police let him go.
He was arrested on August 21 for the rape of a woman in Weesperzijde on August 15, just five kilometres from where Lisa was found brutally killed.
The asylum seeker is also accused of attempting to sexually assault a third woman on August 10, also in Weesperzijde.
Forget politics and migration policies for a moment.
How can you call a system that immediately releases accused rapists back into the streets anything but evil??
