I have seen many horrific crimes in my years of reporting the news, but the full video of the attack on Iryna Zarutska may be the worst.
On Tuesday, the public received a full video of the attack, which will will not post here, but will link to in the interest of truth and transparency (be warned that it is extremely graphic).

After the left side of her throat was slashed multiple times, Zarutska grabbed her neck and curled into a ball, terrified.
She could then be seen crying and looking around the cabin, confused, as her killer walked away.
Seconds later, Zarutska collapsed on her chair before rolling to the floor.
For many long moments, no one stepped in to help. Zarutska can be seen balancing an arm on the chair as she struggled to stabilize herself.
At some point, far too late, two people stepped in to help as blood pooled on the floor. One man used the shirt off his back to try to stem the bleeding.
The attacker, identified by police as repeat violent felon Decarlos Brown Jr., bragged on camera about slashing "that white girl."
In response to growing public outcry, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday afternoon that it has brought a federal charge in the case.

Many people are also calling for charges to be brought against Judge Teresa Stokes, who released Brown from jail in January 2025 on the promise that he would appear at trial for a separate criminal case involving misuse of the 911 system.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed how Stokes "released this insane criminal" during a press briefing on Tuesday.
North Carolina Rep. Tim Moore has also called for Stokes to be removed from her position.
