They say crime doesn't pay. And that's true in the sense that criminals tend to get caught after a while, lose all their money, and get thrown in prison.
But before that happens, the bad guys can often make one heck of a buck in their criminal dealings:
A Utah oil magnate was arrested along with his wife in a dramatic raid on their opulent 27,000-square-foot mansion after allegedly smuggling more than $300 million worth of oil from Mexico to the US with the help of drug cartels, according to reports.
James and Kelly Jensen were arrested on April 23 by US Marshals, who used battering rams to bust through the doors of the couple's $9.2 million mansion in outside Salt Lake City, KSLTV reported.
"Now hold on a second," you might ask, "why did the cops have to use battering rams to break down the doors?" Well, according to one U.S. marshal:
They were unwilling to come out.

Generally that's when they start breaking down the door! In any event, it sounds like this couple definitely warranted the full treatment. Last month they were "indicted on charges they conspired to buy and smuggle more than 2,800 shipments of stolen oil from Mexico into the US" in a deal with Mexican criminal cartels.
They bought the oil from "businesses in Mexico that operate only through the permission of Mexican criminal organizations," the federal government said.
The total take from the alleged scheme reportedly totaled around $300 million, including a second home, cars, and their business.
Yes, they had another home on top of the jaw-droppingly huge one they normally live at:
The house reportedly commands "7 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and approximately 26,893 sq ft of floor space."
And folks, as fancy as this place might (sort of) look from the outside, from the photos we do have, the inside is apparently ... a bit different:
Folks in the local community, meanwhile, apparently aren't crazy about it:
'The house is a total eyesore! It's super tacky. I thought maybe a tacky Arab person built it. This person has no taste at all, and the inside looks like a 1974 Motel 6 in Arkansas! Why would anyone live up on that hill with that monstrosity!!'
'The interior looks like a 1970's casino.'
'Yeah I have to agree that the outside is beautiful but on the inside it looks like Walt Disney threw up.'
Probably nobody's gonna miss this thing if the feds end up bulldozing it! 😂
