When I think about humans racing against robots, I usually imagine that the humans are hopelessly running away from them.

And they look something like this:

Thankfully, reality is a long way from the T-1000.

Hong Kong hosted the first humanoid-robot half marathon, and the robots that competed in the race were slow: painfully slow.

Here are some highlights:

Teams from several companies and universities took part in the competition, which is part of China's announced plan to dominate the West in robotics by the end of 2025.

The leader of the winning team said their robot was a match for similar models from Western nations.

And while there have been a lot of Boston Dynamics-style videos being released out of China lately boasting of their robotic prowess, those videos have the distinct look of CGI about them and the actual bots have that "made-in-China" feel.

That means I'm not too worried.

Well, except for that one racer with the spinning propellers: The one that broke free from its handlers and made a mad dash for the crowd.

That one is a little worrisome.

Maybe this reformed Terminator bot could teach it the Gospel before those murderous instincts take over! 👇
