On Saturday, August 16, British citizens protested the construction of an Islamic mosque in Dalton, England.
One of the protesters shouted "We love bacon" and was promptly removed by police.
Yikes.
An officer wearing a red hat can be heard telling the young man that he has violated Section 5, a 1986 law that bans people from saying "threatening or abusive" words that disturb the "public order."
Parodies of the incident are already circulating on social media.
In that video, the woman jokes about an incident last week where British police refused to press charges against an African migrant who trespassed into a woman's home because "trespassing is not an arrestable offense."
In a longer clip (language warning) of the bacon-arrest video, the red-capped officer talks to the young man as he is being handcuffed and confirms he is being arrested for saying something "racially abusive."
The young man responds in disbelief that a comment about "English breakfast" meets that threshold.
The young man was then led away to a waiting police van. His fate is unknown.
To the Brits: I'll be sure to have an extra slice of bacon for you chaps in the land of the free.
