You know, this is a prime example of where "mind your own business" seems like a good piece of advice.

Another good piece of advice is to get a privacy screen on your phone.

Either of these things could have prevented a HUGE misunderstanding that led to panic, a flight diversion, and a big mess for American Airlines. All because a nosy neighbor couldn't mind their business.

Local news outlet Primera Hora reported that one passenger saw another receive a text message saying RIP (rest in peace) and interpreted it as a threat to the flight, according to Puerto Rico's Office of Explosives and Public Safety.

American Airlines flight 1847 was on its scheduled service between San Juan and Dallas, and returned to Puerto Rico shortly after takeoff.

Yeah, some nosy person saw a "RIP" text on someone's phone, something that millennials and younger send each other as jokes all the time, freaked out, alerted the airlines, and forced them to return to San Juan and have the cops sweep the plane for explosives.

I just hope they were able to rearrange the seating chart for the next flight.

Ain't no way I'd get back on the plane and sit next to that same snoop again!

Of course, after hours of delay, I'd also just be happy to get back in the air.
