ACLU to sue Biden over copying Trump's asylum ban
· Jun 6, 2024 · NottheBee.com

It turns out that an ongoing historic migrant crisis, with countless military-aged males flooding the border, is bad during an election year.

So Joe Biden's team of interns and nurses helped him string together a "proclamation on securing the border," and the ACLU immediately announced that they would be taking legal action.

"BREAKING: The Biden administration just announced an executive order that will severely restrict people's legal right to seek asylum, putting tens of thousands of lives at risk," the ACLU said on X. "This action takes the same approach as the Trump administration's asylum ban. We will be challenging this order in court."

This mimics their November 2018 response to the Trump administration's efforts to combat illegal immigration.

"BREAKING: We just filed a lawsuit to challenge the president's new asylum ban," the ACLU wrote at the time. "Neither the president nor his cabinet can override the clear commands of our law, but that's exactly what they're trying to do. We'll see him in court."

One official said that this presidential proclamation from Biden would "temporarily suspend the entry of noncitizens across the southern border," while another said that the White House expected to face criticism and litigation.

"While the rule may be challenged, as was the case with the circumvention of lawful pathways regulation, we look forward to defending [it] … as any litigation that might be filed progresses in the next few days," they said.

And this election-year swing towards Trump's own policy is causing havoc among Biden's propaganda team. Take a second and enjoy CNN's inner turmoil, with the headline: "Biden pulls from Trump's immigration playbook in election-year twist."

President Joe Biden is pulling from former President Donald Trump's immigration playbook as he tries to stop a flow of asylum-seekers from around the world who are crossing into the US at the border with Mexico.

Unveiled at the White House on Tuesday, Biden's new plan to all but shut down the US border to asylum-seekers who cross the border illegally uses executive authority Trump once used to bar people from mostly-Muslim countries from entering the US in 2017 and also to bar most asylum-seekers in 2018 - days after Republicans suffered huge setbacks in midterm elections that year.

It's an odd, election-year twist, since Biden actually ran his 2020 campaign in part on a promise to revoke those actions, which he did in the months after taking office. Trump's asylum policy was also blocked by federal courts before Biden revoked it.

It's so odd! What a twist from the same Joe Biden who promised to take "urgent action to end Donald Trump's draconian immigration policies," and to "end his inhumane asylum policies" within his first 100 days in office!

Personally, I'm waiting for Biden's wall, which will be the same as Trump's wall, but will be held up by aides.
